K&Q13 Draft Programme

The Royal Studies Network is delighted to present the draft programme of the thirteenth annual Kings & Queens conference: Gift-giving and Communication Networks. The 2024 conference is conceived to mark the fifth centenary of the death of Queen Claude de France (1499-1524). It will be hosted at The American University of Paris for the first two days (May 27-28).

Please note that this is a draft programme and subject to change but it gives you a preview of the action packed conference coming your way this May! We had a very strong response to the call for papers which means we will have two intensive days packed with exciting papers from our colleagues in the field at the American University of Paris on 27-28 May. This will followed on the 29th by a day of papers at Châteaudun focused on Claude de France, whose 500th anniversary falls in 2024. At the end of the day we move on to Tours and 30 May, delegates will have the option of visiting a special exhibition "Le sceptre et la quenouille. Etre femme entre Moyen Age et Renaissance".

Registration is now open for K&Q13! Click on the button below to access the registration page.

  • Please note, all participants (including speakers participating online only) must register for the 'general fee'. Thereafter please choose the options relevant to you if you are participating in Day 1 (27 May at AUP), Day 2 (28 May at AUP) and/or Day 3 (29 May at Châteaudun and Tours).

  • While AUP cannot offer accommodation options, see this document for hotel suggestions in both Paris and Tours. On 30 May, delegates will have the option of visiting a special exhibition in Tours called "Le sceptre et la quenouille. Etre femme entre Moyen Age et Renaissance" (free of charge).  If you are attending Day 3, please note that you are responsible for making your own way onwards from Tours after the conference finishes.

  • An important note for those of you with dietary requirements—when registering please do NOT book any options with food included: please ONLY select the general fee and the bus to Châteaudun and Tours if you are joining us on the 29th and then please email the conference organizer (kchevalier@aup.edu) to let her know about your dietary requirements. If you have no dietary requirements or are vegetarian, you can book as normal, selecting all the options relevant to you.

  • Please contact Kathleen at the address above if you have requested a fee waiver or have questions about the reduced fee option.
