Research and Knowledge Exchange Centre
The RKE Centre reflects the University's strong commitment to research, knowledge exchange, social enterprise and community engagement
We organise the popular annual Enterprise Lecture Series, which has boasted such great names as Kate Adie, Greg Dyke, Jonathon Porritt, Terry Waite and Alan Titchmarsh, and we produce regular Knowledge Exchange Newsletters for the wider community. We also engage with local and regional partners, including other Higher Education Institutions, in the advance of enterprise, and we run a Business Start Up Awards Scheme for entrepreneurial staff, students and graduates.
Furthermore, we administer and support research and knowledge exchange activity at the University. This includes servicing all RKE committees, providing support and staff development on RKE for University staff and postgraduate students, and administering the candidature of postgraduate students.
The Master's Lodge
The RKE Centre is situated in the Master's Lodge (photo) on the University’s West Downs Campus. Built in 1905 and designed by the renowned architect John Simpson, this beautiful Grade II-listed building is a fine example of Arts and Crafts architecture and has been sensitively renovated. It was once the home of the second master and assistant masters of the adjacent West Downs prep school, which now houses the Winchester Business School and the Link Gallery.
Also housed in the Master's Lodge are:
The building also offers hot-desking facilities to part-time PhD and MA students.
