It is intended that mentoring support will have a practical focus and will help students to structure their approach to study. The student may, for example, severely lack confidence in his/her academic ability or may have difficulties with organisation, memory or concentration making it difficult for him/her to construct his/her academic work appropriately.
The mentor's role is to offer support to individual students including the following:
- One-to-one support focussed on supporting the student's relationship with the course
- Regular 'tutorial' type meetings focusing on developing the student's academic and personal skills
- Learning support - help with planning and prioritising, discussing particular difficulties, improving on existing skills and maintaining a good work/life balance.
If you wish to discuss your support requirements, please book an appointment with the Head of Wellbeing - Lesley Black.
