The Friarsgate Practice provides an onsite medical service to all students who are registered with them. Most of the NHS services are offered here including advice on sexual health, repeat prescriptions and general consultations.
The surgery is located in the Main Building within the Student Services department. Any shared information is strictly confidential.

Students are encouraged to continue with regular checks with the family GP during the holidays. However, should an emergency arise whilst at University, the Dental Helpline should be able to help.
The University of Winchester maintains a awareness campaign throughout the academic year. There is a comprehensive Managing Meningitis Policy, developed with the support of the Health Protection Agency which is followed should there be a suspected/confirmed case of meningitis at the University.

The University has a comprehensive policy in place should the H1N1 virus afect the day to day running of the institution.
