Reflect is an exhibition incorporating the disciplines of painting, drawing and photography by artist Lorraine Morris. It is a culmination of work which began during her MA Fine Art studies at Winchester School of Art. The work over this period investigates the relationships between time, space and place.
The starting point for which has long been the combined elements of memory and the material quality of photographs. Photography, which literally means ‘light drawing’, is a vital element in the process of exploring memory. It is the physical presence of the photograph in combination with the captured image that makes photographs amongst our most treasured possessions, as well as vessels of personal and collective memory.
The work seen at The Link Gallery reflected the past three years, not only in the sense of considering the time past and experienced but also a contemplation of the place where the work originated and the space in which it was shown.
