The Student Recruitment team are available to support teachers and careers advisers with many issues and activities relating to higher education.

National Student Finance Day

Monday 14th November 2011

Student Finance Day is a national day dedicated to explaining the 2012 changes to student finance in England. The University is pleased to support Student Finance Day by hosting the following information events:

Student Finance: Information for Careers Advisers and tutors                                                                                                                         2pm-3pm, West Downs Centre Room 1, Romsey Road, Winchester

The University of Winchester’s Student Finance Officer, Paul Baker, will provide information on the package of loans and support on offer from the Government, as well as giving an insight into what Universities will be offering as well.

The University’s Education Liaison Officers, Rosie Brown and Alix Hickman, will be available to answer any questions on how these changes affect your students and discuss how we can support them during the application process.

Student Finance: Information for Parents                                                                 6.30pm - 7.30pm, The Stripe, King Alfred Campus, Sparkford Road, Winchester

The University of Winchester’s Student Finance Officer, Paul Baker, will provide information on the package of loans and support on offer from the Government, as well as giving an insight into what Universities will be offering as well. This will also be an opportunity to understand the process of applying for support, how support is paid and how students repay when they graduate.

The University’s Education Liaison Officers, Rosie Brown and Alix Hickman, will be available to discuss the UCAS application process with students and their parents and answer any questions.

Annual Conference

Each year we will be hold our Careers Advisers’ Information Day, this is an annual free event aimed at staff from local schools and colleges with a remit for advice and guidance on HE matters.

The event is followed by our annual Compact meeting with staff from our Compact Partner Schools.

Workshops for school and college staff

We offer refresher sessions for staff on the following topics:

  • The UCAS application system
  • Personal Statement tips
  • Writing references for higher education
  • Researching university options: the online experience
  • The Compact Scheme

These sessions can be delivered in schools by a member of the Student Recruitment and Widening Participation team.
