2,738 Miles: the Winchester Sports Stadium to Soma Town Gambia!
The Departments of Campus and Conference Services and Estates are running The Go4Gambia project.
The goal is for staff from throughout the University to cover the distance from the Winchester Sports Stadium to Soma Town in The Gambia throughout the months of May and June 2011 to raise money for the the Hampshire Diamond Jubilee Gambia Project. The Hampshire Diamond Jubilee Gambia Project aims to raise £20,000 during the academic year 2010/11 to renovate two classrooms at Soma School and enhance facilities for girls studying at Tahir School in The Gambia.
The staff can undertake the following activities which count towards the overall total miles required to reach the target:
- Walking
- Swimming
- Running
- Cycling

We need your help to sponsor the project, whether it's for your work colleague who is taking part or you would just like to give a small amount to help those in Gambia who are less fortunate than yourselves. The project will end with an event at the Winchester Sports Stadium where the last few miles of the distance will be run.
