Preparing for Study in Higher Education

Moving from a work environment to a study environment requires some different ways of thinking and writing.

The University of Winchester is keen to support work-based learners and mature students returning to academic study, by making the transition as smooth as possible

Moving Towards Higher Education (study skills workbook)

This workbook is designed to help learners who have completed NVQs to make the transition from an NVQ learning culture into an HE learning culture. It aims to support students in bridging the gap between completing an NVQ and beginning undergraduate study. While this workbook has been written for the Health & Social Care and Early Years sectors, the learning theory underpinning its content is relevant to other subject areas.

People are welcome to use any of the material in the workbook for their own personal development or for a non-profit making activity as long as HI-LLN is acknowledged as the source. Hard copies of the workbook are available from Helen Briers: helen.briers@winchester.ac.uk

Moving Towards Higher Education (study skills workbook)

This workbook was developed and funded by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Lifelong Learning Network (HI-LLN) and carried out through a joint project of the Childhood, Youth and Community Studies and Health and Social Care Curriculum Groups.
