In keeping with the founding ethos of the centre the conference aims to bring together a diverse range of people working in the areas of peace and reconciliation: those whose actions for reconciliation and social change are informed by their faith; organizations working with faith communities for reconciliation and social change; and academics exploring reconciliation, religion and social change issues. www.ThePeaceNexus

The Winchester Centre of Religions for Reconciliation and Peace (WCRRP) is in the process of developing an online resource for individuals and organisations working in the areas of peacebuilding and reconciliation. The ‘PeaceNexus’ will be a user friendly database containing resources, reports, research, and contacts for organisations around the world involved in peacebuilding and reconciliation work. Inspired by the latest social networking models users will be able to form groups, forums, write blogs, create their own ‘library’ of documents, and contribute to this increasingly important area of work. The site is planned to come online in the first half of 2011. If you are interested in contributing to the site or would like to know more please contact Dr Mark Owen: mark.owen@winchetser.ac.uk.

Developing BA and MA Religion and Conflict Resolution Studies

In partnership with the University of Winchester Theology and Religious Studies department WCRRP is currently in the process of developing a BA module on Religion, Conflict and Peacebuilding, and an MA programme specifically dedicated to studying the apparently paradoxical role religion has played in both fuelling and resolving violent conflict. With an emphasis on practical application and contemporary relevance the proposed programme will explore theoretical models of conflict resolution; the practical issues and challenges for faith based organisations in peacebuilding; and analyse case studies from a diverse range of contexts in Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East. If you would like to find out more about these forthcoming programmes please contact Dr Mark Owen: mark.owen@winchester.ac.uk.
