Professor Graham Ixer
Professor Graham Ixer is a staff Governor (Academic) and Head of Social Work. Most of his working life has been in the public sector starting as a school teacher before going into social work with children. Following a career in social work he became an academic where his research interests on reflection and publication record started and continues today. He also has an international profile on interprofessional education.
He had a successful career in regulation and central government policy prior to joining the University where he led the government regulator on social work education and was responsible for inspecting all HE provision providing approved education.
He led many UK and national initiatives including giving evidence to a Government Select Committee. He plays an active role in public engagement having been a trustee of a number of charities and continues as a Magistrate in Adult Courts in East London.
