Vortex

Since 2005 VORTEX has been a thriving student creative writing magazine. It publishes the best work of students across each academic year. Owing to its success it now also accepts submissions from students at any UK university.

Each edition of VORTEX features a variety of materials. There is poetry, short fiction, script, non-fiction, and even at times some work-in-progress. VORTEX is an important part of the thriving creative writing community at the University of Winchester, made up of more than 350 u/g and p/g students enrolled on our BA Creative Writing, MA Writing for Children, MA Creative and Critical Writing, and PhD programmes.

Students who wish to submit work should send it to the Editor, Neil McCaw, as an email attachment, including full personal and contact details. Submissions should not exceed 2500 words (prose), 10 pages (script), or 40 lines of poetry (4 poems maximum).

Each year the magazine is available for purchase via the University Bookshop or else by contacting the Editor. Past editions can be accessed from the ARCHIVE.
