Early Years Professional Status

The University of Winchester, in partnership with a consortium led by the University of Chichester, is pleased to offer the Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) programme, with places fully funded by the Teaching Agency.

Fully funded places are available for both the Undergraduate Practitioner Pathway (UPP), for current early years practitioners, and the Graduate Entry Pathway (GEP), for new entrants. Graduate Entry Pathway (GEP)

  • For graduates with limited experience of working with children from birth to five but who are looking to pursue a career working in early years.
  • All candidates must hold a degree awarded by a United Kingdom higher education institution (or a recognised overseas equivalent) at the start of the pathway. 
  •  Full time, 12 months duration

Undergraduate Practitioner Pathway (UPP)

  • For current early years practitioners working in the sector with a Level 5, early years qualification (Foundation Degree).
  • At the start of the pathway candidates must hold an early years related qualification with a total of at least 240 CAT (Credit Accumulation and Transfer) points, 120 of which must have been obtained at Intermediate Level on the Higher Education Qualifications Framework.
  • Part time, 12 months duration

Graduate Practitioner Pathway (GPP)

  • For graduates currently working in the early years sector who require a small amount of learning or experience before they can demonstrate the EYP Standards.
  • Candidates must hold a degree awarded by a United Kingdom higher education institution (or a recognised overseas equivalent) at the start of this pathway.
  • Part time, 6 months duration

At the start of the course, all candidates will require GCSE Maths and English Language grade A-C, or their recognised equivalents, and must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills in English.
