Community Development

Please be aware that a new degree in Health, Community and Social Care Studies is planned for the 2011 entry.

Changes in the health, community and social care sectors are evolving rapidly, and provide a challenging and rewarding area ofemployment. Workers in these sectors engage with a wide-range of individuals, across the whole lifespan, and within different community contexts, experiencing the reality for children, families, substance-users, older people and people with disabilities, learning or mental health difficulties, for example.

The BSc Health, Community and Social Care Studies programme follows a strong ethos of empowering and enabling practice, with great emphasis placed on effective, collaborative work with those who use, design and shape service provision. The programme offers students the valuable opportunity to explore issues from a multi-agency perspective, building the knowledge, confidence and skills to pursue a wide range of roles in the social care field in its broadest sense, including specific roles within health, community development, social care, or disabilities services.
