The Law Society and Bar Council
The Solicitors Regulation Authority is the professional body for solicitors.
The Bar Standards Board is the professional body for barristers. Through the Joint Academic Stage Board the two bodies set standards which have to be met for a law degree to be recognised as a qualifying law degree (QLD). A QLD is the academic stage of training to become a solicitor or barrister. The law programme at Winchester has been designed to meet these requirements and has been validated by the Joint Academic Stage Board as a QLD.
