Biography
Helen joined the University of Winchester in April 2008 after nearly four years living and working in New Zealand. Helen gained her B.Sc. (Hons) in Sport and Exercise Science from University of Bath in 2004 and immediately took up a post as Sport and Exercise Science Laboratory Manager at Massey University, Auckland, New Zealand. Whilst working full-time at Massey, Helen studied part-time for a M.Sc. in Sport Science with a thesis focusing on the creation of a Netball simulation. She is currently studying towards a PGCL&T in Higher Education.
Helen’s research interests are mainly in the area of intermittent sports and strength and conditioning. She is a BASES Accredited Sport & Exercise Scientist (Physiology and a Level Two ISAK anthropometrist). She has also provided sport science support for various clients including Professional and club-level football, club-level netball and various triathletes and cyclists, and was involved in a National Talent Identification programme in New Zealand. Helen currently provides performance analysis support to a National League Rugby Union club and is Director of the Department’s Sports Science Consultancy Unit (SSCU).
