Undergraduate studies

The Department of Sports Studies provides students with the opportunity to study sport in a variety of multidisciplinary ways at undergraduate level.

All aspects of sport (ranging from recreational exercise to elite sports competition) are studied from a variety of perspectives.

•The BA Sports Coaching and Development programme provides an opportunity to explicitly test theoretical knowledge in practical sports coaching and development settings.

•The BA Sports Management programme provides an opportunity to explore the integration of sport and business - two of the most dynamic phenomena that shape today’s world. Sports Management can also be studied with another programme as part of the Combined Honours programme.

•The BSc Sports Science programme provides a highly specific scientific sports programme focused on the applied disciplines of physiology, psychology, biomechanics and research methods.

•The BA Sports Studies programme is our most established programme and provides a diverse range of approaches through which to study sport. Sports Studies can also be studied with another programme as part of the Combined Honours programme..

Undergraduate

Each of our programmes is delivered via a blend of lectures, seminars, workshops, practical and laboratory work, computer assisted learning and tutorials. Many sessions will be made up of a mixture of teaching styles and learning activities.

Career opportunities for sports graduates are increasing in nature. The multidisciplinary nature of our sports programmes produces well-rounded graduates who are able to pursue a variety of graduate career pathways.
