Page Content When are students available to start? Following Successful completion of Year 2 study. Negotiable start date June " September 2011 How long will the Placement be? Students must undertake a placement of between 34 and 46 weeks duration. These placements normally include work undertaken in 1 or 2 different organisations. i.e. placements of between 17 and 46 weeks would be considered. Do the students get paid? Placement students should be treated as full-time employees and are subject to a company's standard employment policies and procedures Students are generally paid a wage by the employer, and the salary will be negotiated between a student and the company, but as a guideline we suggest a wage of between £12,000 and £22,000 Factors such as business location, travel costs, skills of the individual student and expectations all influence remuneration decisions What level of work can a placement student do? Students have successfully completed two years of their degree course, and have a high level of knowledge and professional business skills Students should be fully involved in the work of the organisation, section or department and will be just like any other employee " able to tackle demanding tasks What Support will employers get from the University? For a student placement to be successful, it is important that we gain a full understanding of how your organisation operates and its needs in relation to the development of an agreed student project/campaign. Once a placement opportunity has been identified, we will work with you to ensure that all aspects of the work placement are well administered and the required outcomes for all those involved are achieved.
