Biography
Dr Beverley Hill holds a BA in English, an MA and a PhD in Marketing and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is currently completing an MA in English Language in order to study alternative research approaches that can subsequently be used to address marketing and management issues.
Expertise
Beverley is an experienced marketing lecturer and postgraduate dissertation supervisor with a specialist interest in communication (corporate/business and marketing) and consumer research. She adopts a cross-disciplinary approach to research, drawing on linguistic and social research methods, including discourse analysis, narrative, rhetoric and others.
Publications
Beverley has published in European Advances in Consumer Research, and presented papers at the European Advances in Consumer Research Conference (2010), Academy of Marketing (2010), Linguistic Impoliteness Conference (2009) and International Political Marketing Conference (2008).
Research Interests
Marketisation and Consumption in the Education Sector, exploring the consequences of adopting the language of the market in schools and universities and the discursive construction of consumer identities for students and parents.
The Corporate Apology as a speech act and its use as a strategy for reputation protection.

Beverley is a member of the Academy of Marketing and the British Academy of Management, and is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of The Journal of Communication Management.
