Research Interests

Research interests include the impact of policy from the point of view of users and different professional groups in health and social care and more recently in education. One particular study investigated strategies to reduce teenage drinking at a local level and another (working with NHS Education South Central (NESC)) evaluated the impact of the Ward Manager Assistant post in pilot hospital ward sites.  Rachel has developed a growing interest in the field of medical education, Rachel is currently working on a project for the Revalidation Support Team (RST) project, Department of Health.  She successfully led this bid to undertake research to explore the identification of poor performance in doctors in NHS organisations.  The literature review, survey of a purposive sample of UK NHS trusts and interviews with key informants is being undertaken with honorary research fellows, Dr Camilla Leach, Dr Sam Scallan, and Professor Mark Richenbach
