Documents and Transcriptions

This section of the website is aimed at researchers who are unfamiliar with the original documents.

As noted earlier on this site, the IPMs for 1447-1485 are still unpublished, and researchers will frequently need to consult the original texts inquisitions earlier than 1399.By providing images, transcriptions and translations of sample documentsthis section of the websiteaims to familiarize researchers with the handwriting and diplomatic of IPMs and related documents, so that readers will be less daunted by original manuscripts and will be able to find the information in which they are interested more quickly.

The calendared text of the documents is also provided; readers may judge for themselves whether recent calendars have been successful in preserving the informational content of IPMs while omitting their verbiage and common form.
