The SHS publishes the annual journal Southern History, covering the historic southern counties of England.
These counties are Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucester, Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Oxford, Buckingham, Berkshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Vert and Venison, Rights and Riots: Forest History in Southern England since 1217
The Southern History Society is delighted to announce a conference on the Forest Law of England. This free event will engage with the many ‘Forests’ in the South of England and their uniqueness in the landscape.
The conference has attracted many eminent speakers and we invite anyone with an interest in the idea of forests and what makes them special to join us.
