Postgraduate Studies in Education
Do you wish to start, continue or resume your studies in education?
Are you excited by ideas and possibilites in educational settings and wish to develop your understanding through different directions and perspectives? Are you looking to further your career as an educator? Are you working to address the needs of your professional setting? Or do you seek personal professional development and study for its own sake?
The department offers postgraduate courses for educators and researchers in a variety of fields. We are confident that there will be something here for you.
The postgraduate programmes in the department are high quality and informed by the Faculty's research activities. The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) judged 5% of the Faculty's research to be 'world-leading' and 70% to be of international standard. All our programmes, from PgCert to EdD, are underpinned by a shared belief that masters and doctoral study are informed by in a critical approach to knowledge, theory, methodology and practice.
Putting this vision into practice, we provide courses for educators from a range of settings who wish to enhance their own professional practice and the achievement of their students or pupils in the context of the cultural, political and social environments in which they work. Other courses are for those who thirst after a deeper understanding of conceptual and practical issues and who undertake study for its own sake.
