We strive to provide the best educational experience for all our students and take pride in doing so within a friendly, intimate and supportive learning environment.
We offer a wide range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Research activity is organised into two active research groups, reflecting our cognitive, developmental and social psychological research strengths. In REF2014, 2.8% of our research output was rated as ‘world-leading’, and nearly 80% rated 2* or 3* (of international standing). Visit our Research pages to find out more about our REF results and current projects such as the Emoread Study (photo) and the Work-Home Interface Study, both of which welcome participation by members of the public.
The Psychology Department also offers consultancy services; find out more.
The Department has laboratories for developmental and social observation research, a colour lab and cubicles for experimental work. We have also been able to invest in state-of-the-art software and equipment, including EEG/ERP, BIOPAC and eye-tracking facilities. (Photo: scientist working in the colour lab.)
The department organises annual seminar series with internal and external guest speakers. These events are open to all staff and students, and the latter are actively encouraged to attend.
