Biography
My long-standing interest in gender-related issues took a firm hold during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Cape. This interest was developed further through PhD study at the Department of Social Psychology at the London School of Economics. Since then, I’ve been employed as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of Winchester, where, among other roles, I act as Programme Leader for our MSc provision and Convenor of the cross-faculty Centre for Gender Studies.
My teaching duties focus on social psychology and qualitative methods in Psychology at all levels. This broadly reflects my interests in the psychology of gender, which I also teach on more specific elective 3rd-year undergraduate and postgraduate modules.

Research Interests
My work is grounded within a critical perspective and has to date focused primarily on the Social Psychology of gender. I am particularly interested in gender research concerning identities and self; sexualities; aggression, violence and conflict; media; space and place; research philosophy; the critique of traditional quantitative measurement; and qualitative methodology. I am currently extending these lines of inquiry and developing my interest in radicalisation and violence among marginalised men from a gender standpoint.
