The partnership provides a mechanism through which exchange trips take place between the two Universities. Building upon this exchange the Department of Sport and Exercise have developed an exciting study abroad module. This module sees a number of final year students visiting EIU in the Autumn to achieve a number of specific aims including: promoting greater international awareness and understanding of sport, to experience a different culture, and to experience presenting their own work internationally.
Students engage in an academic programme organised by EIU and an extensive social and cultural experience programme that includes high level sporting events in a range of sports including American Football and Baseball.
Reflecting on the experience student Maria Moxey stated:
“The trip to EIU was an experience to remember forever, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The place had a friendly feel and sport is a huge aspect of University life, which was wonderful to see. The student presentations were a great way of building confidence”
Fellow Student Silas Brown also reflected:
“The study abroad experience at EIU was brilliant. It was a fantastic experience to explore a different culture and see the similarities and difference with our own culture in the UK. This exchange was also a great chance to network and build lifelong friendships and for that reason I will always be grateful”.
