The Resource Base
The Resource Base, sited in Herbert Jarman building where much of the teaching takes place, provides staff and students with a variety of resources to enhance the teaching and learning in the department. It houses large collections of materials to support many curriculum areas but especially science, special educational needs, art and design and technology.
There are also materials available for students to purchase when creating resources and displays as a part of their course assignments.
The base is run by three team members who are available to offer support to staff and students needing help with ideas for resources and is open 0800 to 1630 on week days.
They produce a variety of quality resources to support the staff in their teaching, which helps to enhance the learning experience for the students.
The department also has an expanding collection of I.T. equipment such as data loggers, microscopes, digital recorders, tablets and cameras for staff and students to use. It also has two sets of videoconferencing equipment which can be used to link with local schools, national providers such as museums and also other universities, both in the United Kingdom and across the world.
