Graduation 2017 Information Brochure
There is no parking available at the Cathedral and public car parks will have to be used. Fortunately, there are several long and short-stay car parks within easy walking distance of the Cathedral and the Guildhall. You will find a map indicating where parking is available in the Graduation Information Brochure.
The Parking Office (01962) 848346 can also advise you on parking in the city.
You must collect your academic dress from the Winchester Guildhall (from 8am if you are attending a morning ceremony, or from 11am if you are attending an afternoon ceremony).
There will be an opportunity to purchase commemorative items or have professional photos taken before your ceremony in the Winchester Guildhall.
During the Ceremony
Please ensure you arrive and are seated at the Cathedral at least half an hour before your ceremony begins.
The ceremony normally lasts about one and a half hours but this depends on how many students are graduating and whether or not an honorary degree or honorary fellowship is conferred.
You will be sat with your cohort, in the order you will be greeted by the Chancellor. Please do not switch or change seats as you may miss your name being read and miss your opportunity to head up on stage.
Before and After
There is a full list of restaurants and hotels that you may wish to make reservations at for your day. You are able to wear your academic dress all day and can celebrate with family and friends who may not have been able to get tickets to the ceremony.
You will be able to have official photos taken and purchase commemorative items all day from the Winchester Guildhall.
You may want to attend the Graduation Ball. Details of the ball and how to purchase tickets will be advertised on the Student Unions' website, www.winchesterstudents.co.uk
