BA Contemporary Performance 2001 -2004
Performance Maker, Curator and Facilitator
When talking about my practice, I always refer to my time at Winchester as having a huge influence on my awareness as an artist and producer.
The programme was led by a fantastic collection of practising artists who supported us, as emergent makers, performers and professionals, to generate ideas-led work, unrestricted by form, collaborative in nature.
During my time at the University, I also worked for the Theatre Royal Winchester and the Hat Fair, equipping me with important practical and administrative skills alongside the critical and creative intelligences that were nurtured on the course.
Since graduating I have been working in the territories of contemporary dance and performance. My portfolio features work as a maker, curator, facilitator, advisor and producer. Fascinated by detail, nuances of time and texture, memory and landscape, I work collaboratively in response to environment, with other artists and organisations imagining alternative contexts for performance, participation and discourse.
I have since completed an MA in Performance and have taught in conservatoires and HEIs at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have worked with arts venues, dance companies, collectives and independent artists. What I do has taken me all over the UK and the world including Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Romania, Sweden and the U.S. My projects have ranged from large-scale events for landmark buildings like Somerset House, to international research and consultancy, to performing on a cliff’s edge above the sea at sunrise.
