BA (Hons) Sports Studies with Psychology
Sports Performance Consultant, High Performance Training
After completing my course, BA Sports Studies with Psychology, I then went on to work with Portsmouth FC Academy. During this time I also gave associate lectures back at the University of Winchester.
After leaving Winchester I continued to gain invaluable experience at the Lawn Tennis Association before working in rugby, with British judo, and more recently with golfers and fencers during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Through networking and experience I achieved my current role as Sports Performance Consultant. It involves performance management, functional strength and conditioning, programme design, talent development and sports psychology. Every day is completely different and I have the privilege of watching athletes become better at what they do, many of them aiming to compete at the next Olympic Games in Rio. I’m routinely solving problems on the front line of sport through continued research and innovation.
The University staff had excellent applied backgrounds, which gave me a good footing to apply learning. Certain modules were designed specifically to equip me with the useful consultancy skills which I now use on a daily basis.
