Civil Weddings
The University of Winchester has3 delightful rooms within the West Downs Centre which are licensed for civil ceremonies and partnerships;
Room 2
On the first floor, Room 2 within the West Downs Centre is a beautiful room with double height wooden ceiling and floor, leaded light windows and will seat up to 150 guests for a wedding ceremony.
Room 3
A smaller, more intimate ceremony room, ideal for up to 40 guests
Shakespeare Room
In keeping with the traditional Victorian architecture apparent throughout the whole building, the Shakespeare room is a beautiful oak-panelled space with raised gallery and restored wooden parquet floor. The room will seat up to 110 guests for a civil ceremony, and can be turned around after your ceremony for your wedding reception.

Please note that you may make a provisional booking for your chosen date with us, but before confirming the date you must contact the local registrars office to check availability of the registrar for your preferred date and time.
