Weddings and Receptions
We have two locations where you can celebrate your wedding:
The Shakespeare Room in the West Downs Centre is the perfect setting for wedding receptions at the University of Winchester.
Seating up to 100 guests for a wedding breakfast, the Shakespeare Room has retained many of the original Victorian features and the beautiful oak panelling and restored wooden parquet floor provide a stunning backdrop to the elegantly decorated tables. With a raised gallery and dual staircase, which couples often enhance with simple floral garlands the room oozes style, charm and character.
For an evening reception, the room would transformed to make way for a dance area, disco or live band and up to 140 guests to party the night away. We can put you in touch with local DJ’s and bands.
Alternatively the dining room in the new University Centre provides a modern funky venue for larger weddings seating up to 200 guests. After the wedding breakfast your guests can move to one of the student union bars, and party the night away.....
Couples can theme their weddings to suit their individual requirements, and we are happy to chat through any ideas you may have; perhaps it is simply classic colour schemes, or an off the wall contemporary theme. Either way we will be pleased to discuss, tailor and advise.
