The Winchester Sports Stadium
The Winchester Sports Stadium opened in July 2008.
The project was managed by the University of Winchester with support and funding from:
- Winchester City Council
- Hampshire County Council
- Winchester and District Athletic Club.
The project also successfully bid for funding from Sport England and the Norwich Union Community Sports Fund.
Winchester Sports Stadium facilties
The Stadium’s Athletics track comprises of an eight-lane track with sandwich surface and field discipline facilities. It is currently the hub of many outdoor sports in Winchester and creates an opportunity for young and old, the unfit as well as elite athletes to participate in sport.
The Stadium also boasts a Tiger Turf All-Weather Pitch which is suitable for hockey and football. The pitch and the track are floodlight and open 7 days a week from 8am to 9pm.
How to find Winchester Sports Stadium
The facility is located about two kilometres from the University’s main campus, the location of the University’s accommodation and main facilities, are a kilometre from the historic city centre of Winchester.
