The programme is for individual students as well as students from international partner institutions who can attend the CEIS to gain recognition for study that will be counted towards their home institution qualifications.
All the English skills are addressed with the aim of developing the student's overall language knowledge to enable the student to meet the expectations of further study with a foundation in functional English.
The programme covers a broad range of English practices and the starting point for learning and teaching is the student's own situation, which is cultural rather than linguistic. The programme takes into account the students previous educational culture. Over the duration of the CEIS the student's understanding of appropriate western study practice is developed.
The CEIS modules are designed to produce a rounded learner by teaching the core skills as an integrated set, and wrapping them around specific subject areas that are relevant to the student's wider studies and/or interests.
