I am Kurt Lagrenade, I come from the Seychelles Islands and I studied Drama at University. Leaving Seychelles was not an easy decision, but it was to advance in my career in Drama. I thought it was going to be three hard years of my life. Winchester was the best decision I have made, coming from a very tropical place and seeing the environment of Winchester I was amazed how they used the landscape to build modern facilities and also keep traditional buildings as well, all surrounded by ever green hills and trees, until autumn and winter kicks in.
Yes my course is challenging but the teachers and staff make life easy, they update you about everything, I never in my three years felt completely alone here, there was not only someone there, but the whole of Winchester Faculty of Arts ready to help or direct you to the help that I needed. That was only for my studies. My very first year, starting from applying, I felt welcome by very friendly staff and then by other International Students, it is then that I joined the International Society and during my second year I became the vice chair and also joined the Dodgeball team, social and activity is endless here. I made so many friends here and met so many incredible people through the international society, which at one point we came to call it the International family, attending activities and social outings organised by the Student Union, which I may add always have something for everyone, now in my third year I am again the Vice Chair. The reason I decided to run for a second consecutive year is that I felt the need to return and show my gratitude towards the University that made me feel at home while away from home.
