Accessibility
The library is committed to the University's accessibility policies. We aim to make the building and services accessible to all users. All comments and suggestions regarding the accessibility of our services is welcomed.
Access
There are several designated disabled parking spaces on the main campus in Sparkford Road. These can be booked in advance by contacting Reception on 01962 841515. Parking generally is difficult here, so if you anticipate problems with either parking, or entering and leaving the Library please contact the Enquiry Desk on 01962 827306 for advice.
The Library is situated on the same level as Reception, opposite the chapel. The entrance has semi-automatic doors, but users with special needs may need assistance.
Once inside the Library you are on the top floor with a further two floors below. If you are unable to use the stairs there is a lift, suitable for wheelchairs, connecting all three floors, it is situated in the left hand corner of the library as you come in.
There is a disabled toilet on the top floor of the Library located through the photocopying room.
The middle floor has a disabled toilet located in the School Resources Centre.
The ground floor has a disabled toilet and access is available, although for security reasons this has to be with the help of a member of staff.
Support for students with special needs

Photocopying
There are photocopiers on all three floors of the Library. If you are unable to come into the Library you can arrange photocopying with the Enquiry Desk. If you are able to reclaim the costs from your local authority you can purchase 100-copy photocopy cards from the Library Enquiry Desk and ask for a receipt. Journal articles from journals in the Library can be photocopied and posted to you. Standard photocopying charges apply. Coloured paper for photocopying or printing, if required, is charged at 2p a sheet.

In the Event of a Fire
THE LIFT SHOULD NOT BE USED IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE.
A continuous siren will sound and all users should leave the building by the nearest exit. There are no visual alarms, and the fire alarm may not be audible in the study rooms. Users with impaired hearing should bear this in mind although staff will check these rooms when clearing the Library. All fire exit routes are clearly marked with a green sign.
If unable to vacate the building the users on the middle floor should go to a place of relative safety – e.g. through the fire doors in the training room to get outside the building, and wait for assistance. For this reason users with impaired mobility could alert the library staff when they enter and leave the building, so that, in the event of an emergency, we can inform the emergency services when they get here.
Emergency Phones
There are two emergency telephones in the Library. One is in the Library Training Room located in the School Resources Centre on the middle floor, and the other one is on the ground floor.
If you have any questions please ask. The library staff are here to help all users.
