The Scholarship was presented to Thi Quỳnh Hoa Hà (Halley), who successfully completed her MSc Marketing in 2014.
The international Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship is currently available for Vietnamese or Thai postgraduate applicants to the University of Winchester who, as part of their UK studies, contribute to the University’s international strategy.
“I was delighted to be able to award Halley’s Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship certificate in person – she is a deserving recipient who completed her work at Winchester to an excellent standard,” said Professor Carter. “I hope more candidates will follow in her footsteps and come to study in the UK.”
Whilst in Vietnam, Professor Carter delivered the keynote address at the British Council’s 2015 International Conference, titled Quality in Higher Education: Global Perspectives and Best Practices. Professor Carter spoke about the UK assurance system and its internationalisation – how to safeguard standards and improve the quality of higher education for both UK and overseas students.
“It was an honour to be invited as keynote speaker for such a distinguished audience,” added Professor Carter. “The University of Winchester is committed to nurturing a strong relationship with the Vietnamese higher education community and to welcoming students from this region.
“The varied experiences and added perspectives brought by international students enrich the University as a whole. We are always looking to develop our exchange and study abroad initiatives to encourage further international student participation.”
