The University of Winchester has appointed Professor Neil Marriott, Director of Winchester Business School, to be its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor. Professor Marriott has taken over from Tommy Geddes who retired from this position at the end of the month (25 January).
Professor Marriott has over 27 years of teaching, research and management experience in UK Business Schools and universities, as well as visiting professorships at two Australian, one American and two European universities. He is currently the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Business Development) and Dean of the Faculty of Business, Law and Sport at Winchester and has previously held academic roles in Glamorgan and Cardiff University as well as professional roles in the National Health Service and an international accounting firm.
Professor Marriott is the Editor in Chief of International Journal of Management Education and Associate Editor of The British Accounting Review. He has also held roles of Associate Editor, Guest Editor, Editorial Advisor or Editorial Board member for six other academic journals in the UK, USA and Spain. In addition, he was Chair of the British Accounting and Finance Association from 2009-11 and stood down last year as the Chair of their Special Interest Group in Accounting Education after serving 13 years in the role.
His research embraces accounting education, NHS financial management and small business financial management, including angel finance and has published over 100 academic articles and books and presented over 80 papers at international academic and professional conferences.
Professor Marriott brings a wealth of experience with him for his new role as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, commented Vice-Chancellor Professor Joy Carter.
