Humankind are heirs to an extraordinary inheritance. When people first developed on Earth several million years ago they emerged into a world that was richer in plant and animal life than at any time in Earth history. Children who are born today can experience this wonderful diversity and richness in a multitude of ways. Nature has always been a source of inspiration and a sense of oneness with creation can be a deeply meaningful experience. In this introductory talk to launch the Centre for Imagination, Curiosity, Enquiry and the Environment, Dr Stephen Scoffham will explore not only the treasures which are all around us, but raise questions about what the future might hold. These are bitter sweet times he argues which hold great promise but also great perils.
