First year undergraduate students
Campus accommodation is available as catered (part-board) halls of residence on the King Alfred Campus or self-catering at West Downs and the new Queen's Road Student Village. All are located within walking distance of Winchester city centre. All campus accommodation includes unlimited Internet access. There is a communal telephone provided or you can opt to have a private phone in your room. Specially adapted accommodation is available for physically disabled and hearing impaired students. All sites have live-in Wardens and 24-hour first aid trained Site Security and Police Liaison.
Off Campus accommodation is also available in one of our University Managed Houses. All properties are located within walking distance of the University and the city centre. Properties range in size from 3 to 7 bedrooms and all come fully furnished. Rent varies per property, but all come with bills inclusive and an internet connection. Some properties also have parking available.
Please download our University Managed Housing Guide 2012/13 . If you prefer to live privately off campus, the Student Housing team will help you to secure something suitable and also put you in touch with other first year students looking for housing.
After your first year
At Winchester, we help you find somewhere to live for the duration of your course and a number of options are available to you:
- Share a house with student friends in the city - managed by the University or by a local Landlord
- Apply to live on campus (subject to availability)
- Live in lodgings with a family or Landlord
All properties registered with the University are advertised on the Student Housing website, which is designed to help you search for that ideal place.
Student Housing Services runs a Housing Advice Week in February for all current students to attend and learn about new properties to rent. It will help you decide who to share with, what to ask landlords and when to pay a deposit.
