Assistive Technology Training
For students with learning differences, mental health difficulties or other disabilities the access to successful learning can be improved and facilitated by assistive technology.
Sylvia Smallwood, one of our Disability Advisors, is able to deliver assistive technology training on campus.
Sylvia's role is to offer support to individual students including the following:
- One-to-one support focussed on supporting the student's relationship with the assistive technology package s/he has received
- Initial set-up of assistive technology packages
- Regular 'tutorial' type meetings focusing on developing the student's ability to use the technology
- Follow up-training and trouble-shooting
This support is provided in the context of understanding the student's individual condition/situation and supports the student in fully engaging with learning.
