Assessment
At the University of Winchester, students are assessed in a wide variety of ways over the duration of their programmes.
Undertaking, marking, and administering assessed work is an major part of student and staff life at university so we’re working to support everyone in this process.
Learning and teaching is necessarily tied up with assessment, and in fact assessment is one of the key L&T interests at the University. The TESTA project is looking at assessment practices at a range of HE institutions, and we continually undergo reviews of the strengths and weaknesses in our assessment. This includes looking at the different methods of assessment, such as using wikis and blogs, analysing assessment load, examining the alignment between assessment and the learning objectives for modules, as well as trying to make the processes associated with assessment such as handing in, returning of work, marking, second marking and moderation as efficient as possible.
A new project (FASTECH) has just commenced, investigating technological approaches in solving assessment issues raised during TESTA.
