The Research Informed Teaching (RIT) agenda is being addressed at Winchester in a wide variety of ways. RIT starts from the premise that the research should underpin, illuminate and actively influence learning and teaching, whether that is the latest research in a subject area or the teaching staff’s own research interests. It is also about giving students the skills that they need as researchers in their field of study, and developing them as independent learners and as members of the wider academic community of scholars at the University.
RIT is a strand that is being pursued through various projects across the university from ALFRED, an e-journal that publishes the excellent work of the University of Winchester’s undergraduate students, to WRAP, a cross-faculty project to train students as research assistants on staff research projects.
