TESTA

The University of Winchester leads a £200,000 National Teaching Fellowship Project funded by the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

The three year project Transforming the Experience of Students through Assessment (TESTA) conducts research on programme assessment environments in partnership with three similar universities – Bath Spa, Chichester, and Worcester. The project runs from 2009-12.

TESTA is an evidenced-based approach to mapping programme assessment environments on eight different degree programmes, based on the theory that students’ learning is linked to their experience of assessment on the whole programme. TESTA uses triangulated data from students, programme leaders and documentary sources to give a bird’s eye view of assessment. TESTAThis data is contextualised and acted on by programme teams. A second cycle of data collection will assess the impact of evidence-based interventions.   Alongside these research activities, TESTA works with senior managers to facilitate quality assurance procedures which are more responsive to evidence-informed change.
