E-journals
Sharing information about the excellent research undertaken by staff and students is an important way of showcasing our best practice in Learning and Teaching, and our two e-journals ALFRED and Capture are key to this.
The University of Winchester publishes two journals dedicated to Learning and Teaching. Capture was launched in 2008, it is an e-journal highlighting the Learning and Teaching culture at the University of Winchester, and focuses on interviews with staff, reports of projects, as well as academic articles. Material for the journal is collected and edited by staff at the LTDU, and is an important way of the results of Learning and Teaching projects being disseminated to a wide audience beyond the University.
The success of CAPTURE prompted the development of ALFRED which showcases excellent undergraduate student work at the University of Winchester. ALFRED demonstrates how students are undertaking high quality research and gives them the opportunity to have their work published. ALFRED is part of a wide ranging set of initiatives at the University of Winchester which focus on developing students as researchers, as part of the Research Informed Teaching strand at the University. Publishing is an important research activity and one we want to support at all levels, and it also gives students an opportunity of understanding how the publications process works as well as giving them a mechanism for disseminating the results of their essays and Final Year Projects.
