Programme Content

Year 1 examines approaches within psychology – personality, social, developmental, cognitive and biological – illustrating how they lead to distinct perspectives on key research questions, and to the methods psychologists use to answer these questions. In Year 2, students continue their study of different research methods, exercising greater
independence in their practical work. Under the guidance of their supervisor, they develop a research proposal focusing on an aspect of developmental psychology. In Year 3, students choose which topics to study in greater depth, and their practical work culminates in an extended research project in their chosen area of developmental psychology.

Accreditation
The programme is accredited as conferring eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the BPS, provided the minimum standard of qualification of second class Honours is achieved. This is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist. On graduation, students are not qualified to practise as a specialist psychologist without further training.
