Biography

Daisy Brookman studied BA Performing Arts at Winchester and graduated in 2006. She is Community Development Manager at Pavilion on the Park in nearby Eastleigh, where she organises community events and manages the community centre for the Eastleigh Youth Trust. Daisy combines her work with studying MA Theatre and Media as Development and she is also very active within community-based performing arts and events.

“I’m Project Manager of Street Reach – Winchester detached youth work project, I work with disabled adults at the Hexagon Centre in Eastleigh as a dance facilitator and at Bishopstoke Day Centre as a drama tutor – all of which I find very rewarding.

“I started developing School Gate on the MA, a database of leisure and recreation activities for disabled young people and families which has been published in print and online.

“For my Major Project, I set up Black Cat Theatre Productions with another student and delivered Knife Culture and Crime workshops across schools in Hampshire. This culminated in a one-off day event hosted by StreetReach, held in a 30 foot dome on the playing fields of Henry Beaufort School. We performed an interactive play Linkin Park The Musical and then followed this with participatory workshops.

“Studying MA Theatre and Media as Development has given me the confidence to work in the community and I’ve been able to action many skills developed on the programme.”
