Students are advised that the main purpose of being in the United Kingdom is for study purposes. However, you may wish to take up a part-time job whilst you are here.
Student visa holders who are on a degree level course or above may work part-time during term-time which is no more than 20 hours a week and full-time during vacations. If your programme is below degree level, you may still work part-time during term-time but no more than 10 hours a week and full-time during vacations. More information on how to find a part-time job will be given to you on arrival. EU students are not restricted in the number of hours they work. However students from Romania and Bulgaria need a Workers Registration Certificate to permit them to work in the UK, and are also under the same 20 hour per week restriction on work as international students.
