Disability support for international students
If you are an International or EU student with a disability, you must contact the Head of Wellbeing before arriving in the UK.
International/EU Students
The Disability Team welcomes enquiries from any international student or potential international student who has a disability. This includes those who have dyslexia or other specific learning difference, a chronic medical or mental health condition, sensory impairments or access and mobility difficulties.
To discuss individual support requirements and for support provision to be arranged, please contact the Head of Wellbeing. You will be required to provide evidence of your disability in advance of your arrival.
Please contact the Head of Wellbeing for information on what support might be available and the costs. You might be able to get funding to meet these costs from your own government and your home institution and the University might also be able to help.
Where a student (whether international or home) requires support with personal care issue in connection with day to day living, the University is unable to co-ordinate or provide such support. However, the University can give advice on local service providers and assist in facilitating communication between the two parties (applicant and service provider). The independent service provider will charge to provide this care and this should be thoroughly investigated by the applicant prior to taking up a place at the University.
