Orientation programme
An orientation programme for all international and EU students is held before the start of each semester.
This is an excellent opportunity to find your feet when you first arrive and we strongly advise that you participate in all that has been organised for your benefit. Your attendance on the orientation programme is strongly recommended.
During this week you will:
- Be welcomed to Winchester and to the University
- Have your passport and visa scanned to ensure you have appropriate entry clearance to study with us
- Enrol formally on-site - this must be completed before studying can commence
- Participate in a series of information sessions about life in the UK
- Receive important and essential information about life at Winchester, student culture, the computer systems, email and much more
- Meet your International Student Officer and fellow students
- Meet your tutors and support staff
- Pay your fees and accommodation bills
- Receive your ID card and Student Union card
- Register with a doctor
- Open a bank account
- Tour the campus and Winchester
- Settle in and familiarise yourself with your new environment before lectures start
- Have the opportunity to visit another UK city as part of an organised excursion
- And importantly, make friends and have fun!
You are invited to join our Facebook group 'University of Winchester International Students' to meet current students and international student buddies who will be welcoming you when you arrive.
Please arrive on Monday 19th September 2011. Your orientation events will begin on Tuesday and continue until Sunday. Classes commence on Monday 26th September 2011 - please see Semester Dates for further information.
