Biography

“England offers some of the best education in the world,” says Luhang “Jason” Zhao who comes from Changchun, a city with more than seven million inhabitants in north east China. “My family were anxious that I should study abroad in order to gain a significant edge over the large number of graduates back home.”

“English is an essential language in the world of finance and I’m hoping my degree in Business Management will eventually help me to secure a job in one of the big state owned banks.

“As there are only a handful of Chinese students here at Winchester I’ve been forced to speak English all the time so my language skills have improved enormously. I don’t think I’ll be able to understand Scottish accents but at least I’ve stopped greeting everyone with ‘How do you do?’

“There’s an active group of international students here and I can thoroughly recommend the Winchester experience to foreign students. There’s no such thing as the language barrier here – just plenty of chances to make new friends whilst you study.”
